Train Day

Today we wanted something to get us out of the house. We woke up, took care of a few chores and then decided to take Josh to ride Trax. I have never seen a kid who loves trains more than Josh does!

We drove to the Trax station on 9000 South. I know Josh didn't understand what we were doing even though I kept saying excitedly, "we're going to go ride a train!" As we approached the tracks, I pointed them out and recognition hit. Excited squeals ensued as Josh kept pointing to the train tracks and trying to drag us over to the fence so he could go check them out. We finally got to the platform and as we waited for the train to arrive Josh kept trying to climb down onto the tracks to see them. Finally a train arrived.

We boarded the train and Josh looked amused. "Deeeen," he kept saying. Which is his word for train. The train started and his eyes got huge as we built up speed. We only rode Trax for two stops to the end of the line and then stayed on the train to go back the other direction.

The conductor walked up the aisle and seeing how excited Josh was, asked him if he wanted to go in the cab. He let Josh push any button he wanted, he took the announcing radio down and let him play with it, he let us lift Josh up to see the tracks in front of the engine. JOsh was thrilled and we were so happy to see his excitement. Then it was time to return to our seats.

We sat down and waited for the train to go. Josh kept counting, "one...two... DREEE" for the train to start moving. When we got off, he waved goodbye to the conductor who happily waved back, the nstopped and took pictures by the tracks. It was a great day for a little boy who loves trains!
