Freedom

Our family is all experiencing a little added freedom these days. A few days ago I was told I could walk in my cast now, so I am free from the wheelchair and crutches. That also has opened up the liberty to clean, cook and discipline an 18-month-old who has learned very quickly that mommy can't enforce anything. WATCH OUT JOSH!

Josh is learning about the freedom of getting in and out of his bed, choosing his own meals and much much more. The most effective tool he is learning about is the freedom of communication. He just has to be so close to talking. He's repeating sounds, trying new sounds, pointing and making his preferences known. And he just jabbers in his sweet baby voice all of the time.

Doug is slowly gaining the freedom of having a partner back in his life. He has worked tirelessly at his job and hen come home to take care of the rest of us. He's cooked meals, cleaned up, driven us around, fetched things for me and basically been the mom, dad, and nurse in our home. I am so grateful. I hope that as I become more and more mobile and as I heal more and more that he will experience the freedom of a quiet, relaxing bath, a night of sleep without me tossing and turning, a meal that he didn't have to cook or pick up, and a morning spent sleeping in and reading a good book.

My family has really been so supportive through all of this and I'm so proud of Josh and Doug!
